DANCE PIECE IX

a) Dangle empty cans and bottles all over your body.
Dance without making a sound.

b) Carry a heavy object on your back.
Dance as swiftly as you can.

the heart of an apple reaching out, showing and sowing its seeds, exposed, open, offering growth.

what are these accoutrements around me?
Why wear them?
Why not take the example of the apple?
Or was it a strawberry?
200 seeds on the outside for you to sow or eat. Either way growth.

I make no sound in eating my apple and no sound in eating strawberries either. I know of those who think disabled people eat too loudly and put off customers and so ban them from their cafes.

this is the weight i bear on my back. it cannot stop me dancing but it does weigh me down though it does not stop me dancing. My dance is slower now. It used to be faster. My speed cannot stop me dancing. My speed is as fast as my body will allow with or without the weight.

And i am dancing. A dance of change. Changing rhythm, changing places. the dance halls are open and society is changing.

Was st Vitus the lord of the dance? Was St Vitus a disabled person? Will you let us join or lead the dance?

a: could be possible of one danced agile and fast enough I suppose...
b: we should remember to let go of things that only weigh us down and deter us from our divine purpose as humans.

You have beautiful ideas. Lightness and freedom. Being inside and out at the same time, positive and negative space. My mind is loosened, and I want to respond with action...can you see me? I am smiling.

Its not good to imagine a heavy weight, unless its one you can dance with it being on your back.
