LIFE PIECE III

Imagine all the people singing one day of the year.
That day:
a) lawyers will argue in court by singing.
b) politicians will make their speeches by singing.
c) teachers will lecture by singing.
d) soldiers of both camps will sing to each other.

then.......
could we resist the chance to dance.
choreograph the courtroom
out dance the orators
tango with tuition
samba soldiers

add sequins to your courtly gowns
tap to the rhythm of your sing talks
mod march the mortar boards
use rifles like umbrellas and sing in the rain.

only respect those professionals who sing and dance. the rest are surely phoney

Today I will sing the word verification!
I am also teaching a small class at the Biennale of Sydney and I intend to mention this thought to the young students. I think they will love it as well. The theme this year is Revolution: Forms that turn, and in many ways it aligns with topsy turvy day.

I used to sing my lesson while studying when I was 14 years old. Haha. I found it very funny.

Following your idea the world would be like a big musical. It sounds crazy and funny.

We could sing All you need is love all over the world at a time. It would sound great and we could bring the best vibes from the Universe to the Earth.

Thanks Yoko ...... Power To The People played recently at the democratic convention bought a sharp ray of hope and a tear to my eye. We can only hope for a brighter future ... coming to a town near all of us!

If I could choose one talent it would be to be able to sing- I would for sure sing my daily routine.
I liked the thought of the soldiers having to sing to each other, but there would have to be a rule, no war songs, only childrens songs. Maybe it would change thier moods and they would decide not to fight.

I don't think one day would be enough. We should demand at least a week of singing.

Yes, singing can be a very powerful emotional craft. I can’t believe it, but yesterday I cried during a dancing and singing scene in “Mamma Mia!” It was the one in which Meryl Streep make women around her feeling good and proud of being women enjoying life by singing a song that I always thought it was completely silly. This group of women gives another completely different meaning to these words

“You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen.“

On the other side, there is a story related to singing that it always move me: They say that in Spain during the civil war (1936-1939) a Franco’s firing squad were going to kill a group of civilians, and that one of those people to be executed started singing before the commanding officer shouted “fire!” . He sang an aria form Tosca, called “Goodbye to Life”, the one in which Cavaradossi told by the jailer that he has only one hour to live sings his farewell to his dreams of art, to his beloved and to life.
They say that time stopped for a moment there in Spain and that the soldiers from the firing squad felt emotionally confused and refused to fire: A little miracle that lasted just 5 minutes, but those 5 minutes revealed that the beast could be stopped:

E lucevan le stelle...
ed olezzava la terra...
stridea l'uscio dell'orto...
e un passo sfiorava la rena...
Entrava ella, fragrante,
mi cadea fra le braccia...
Oh! dolci baci, o languide carezze,
mentr'io fremente
le belle forme disciogliea dai veli!
Svanì per sempre il sogno mio d'amore...
L'ora è fuggita...
E muoio disperato!
E non ho amato mai tanto la vita!...

And the stars were shining… the earth
was fragrant… the garden gate
creaked… and a footstep brushed the sand.
She entered, fragrant,
and fell into my arms ...
Oh sweet kisses, oh languid caresses
and I, quivering,
unveiled those beautiful shapes!!!
Disappeared forever my love's dream
The hour is gone...
And I, desperately, die!
And I've never loved so much my life
