LIFE PIECE IX

Get a piece of rubber the size of your palm.
Imagine yourself stretching the rubber
to cover the world with it.
See how much you can cover.
Hang the piece of rubber
on the wall beside your bed.

My mind asks, "and then what?"
but for some unknown reason, i trust you!
so i won't ask.

and then what is a good quetion
i ask it too
but is it not about the limits of my imagination
Imagine i can cover the world with rubber
What then for the world beneath the rubber
What are our rubber associations. Speed, Movement, trees.
I have imagined stretching rubber to cover the world. I can do it. But i won't. I'll just hang the rubber on the waall besiode the bed lie it and use it for its other associations. Bounce, Spring, Conductive.

Today my word verification is one letter wrong of saying hymns. A hymn to rubber

rrubber ball i'll come bouncing back to you

Oh my! Hanging there it looks like a crooked, tired and used prophylactic globe, but there's some beauty in it. I wonder how it will look when getting older.

This is a very distructive Acorn. It closes the mind, body and soul.

there is no word but beauty to describe it
it takes true eyes to know
people place their flags on the moon
and on the top of the mountain
but they do not live there
and they never forget
the whisperings
of the wind
in the deep well

i cut a piece of rubber
from a thin blue swimcap
the size of my palm just a little bigger
before i did it, i thought 'i can not imagine'
then it was in my hand
then i was able to imagine
i put it on the wall
next to my bedtable
with a red thumbtack
it looks beautiful

I worried I would smother people.
I worried that I would squish people in the tight stretching...
But the mountains kept the rubber from reaching the people.
They looked up and saw it for a second or two, and then heard the clap of thunder when I let go.
Now I have it hanging next to my bed and it tells me a new story of all it's seen every night.

Cool! then everything inside the rubber would just bounce around, right?
Sounds like fun!

(I always liked to play around with the rubber cement stuck on mail and such)

I am against hangings.
Especially a used rubber.
Unless it is performance art of course.

I have read the comments and find the concept bemusing. Does covering the world protect it, molly-coddle it (hiding it away from the truth of the stars), or destroy it, the weight of the rubber crushing all things?

What intrigues me more is that even when I imagine it, I also imagine it failing and the rubber snapping, breaking or melting across the globe...
